On 5th of July, 2024, India Japan Lab (IJL) signed MoU with St Xavier’s University in Kolkata to undertake joint education, research, conferences, student and faculty exchange. The MoU signing was graced by Javed Ahmed Khan, Minister-in-Charge, Dept. of Disaster Management & Civil Defense, Govt. of West Bengal and Mr. Matsutaro YAMASAKI, Acting Consul General, Consulate General of Japan in Kolkata. A research meeting was organized with faculty members (Professor Soma Sur), research scholars from St Xavier University, Diamond Harbour Women University (Dr. Kapil Ghosh), Dr. Snehashis Sur, President, Press Club, Kolkata and Mr. Jayanta Basu, senior journalist and environmental specialist. It was agreed that a joint collaborative research project can be undertaken on Livelihood risk management and resilience development model in Sundarban. Professor Rajib Shaw, Director, IJL gave a key note speech.
