Practicing XR Education in India

Sep 30, 2023

India Japan Laboratory (IJL) and the Technology Innovat-ion Hub of IIT Delhi (IHFC) collaborated to conduct an experiential learning program utilizing Virtual Reality (VR) with the theme of SDG 7 (Clean Energy) for students aged 11 to 14. This program was held on September 27, 2023, at Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar School of Specialized Excellence in Delhi and on September 29, 2023, at Amity International School in Noida. The program was conducted by Ms. Sachiko Takane of C.sagyoba Co., Ltd., a member of India Japan Laboratory.

Titled “Expansion of learning methods using XR: ‘Let’s create the energy stations of the future,'” the students enthusiastically engaged in their first VR experience and embraced innovative learning methods. They worked in groups to conceptualize and express ideas by creating VR scenes. Additionally, they actively presented their creative concepts.

This program had previously been conducted in Japan in July. By successfully implementing it in India, we were able to convey the message that young people who will shape the next generation can now share ideas in the metaverse that might have been challenging to share in physical settings, fostering mutual growth and collaboration.
